Here For You

FAMILY COUNSELLING

If one member of the family is experiencing problems, the entire family can be affected in some way or another – and this is where family counselling is useful. Families that work through their struggles and challenges improve interactions, making the family unit stronger. Family counselling also gives each individual the opportunity to express their concerns and emotions, helping each family member gain an understanding of the disruptive problem and how it affects them.

The Sound Relationship House Theory

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING

Developed by John Gottman, Ph.D. and Julie Gottman, Ph.D. Pioneers in relationship science, Drs. John and Julie Gottman have revolutionized our understanding of marriage, relationships, and couples therapy. They draw upon four decades of breakthrough research with more than 3,000 couples. The Sound Relationship House Theory is the foundation of the Gottman Method, which uses a practical approach to help couples break through barriers to achieve greater understanding, connection, and intimacy in their relationships. The Gottman Relationship Checkup not only automatically scores a couple’s strengths and challenges, it also provides detailed clinical feedback and suggestions for a treatment plan with specific recommendations for intervention. The questionnaire consists of 480 questions about friendship, intimacy, emotions, conflict, values, and trust, as well as parenting, housework, finances, individual areas of concern, and more.

The Trauma Resiliency Model®

TRAUMA COUNSELLING

The Trauma Resiliency Model® (TRM) focuses on the biological basis of trauma and the automatic survival responses that the human body uses when faced with perceived threat. This approach to healing trauma focuses on experiencing the ‘felt sense’ in the present moment to relieve the physical, emotional and physiological effects of trauma and other stress and trauma-related health problems. Using the innate ability humans have to overcome trauma, allows the instinctual actions that were unable to complete at the time of the trauma to be safely and gradually discharged in present time. Moreover, clients also experience a renewed sense of hope as the activities of daily living become easier to manage as skills are incorporated into life as a wellness practice. https://www.traumaresourceinstitute.com
